# System role

System roles
Requires JumpServer Enterprise Edition. Define platform-wide roles and fine-grained permissions for administrators across the entire JumpServer deployment.

## Create a system role

In the right area of the top navigation bar, click .

In the left menu, click ** Roles**.

On the right page, click the **System roles** tab.

Click **+ Create**.

Type the role name and description.

Click **Submit**.
## Configure system role permissions

In the right area of the top navigation bar, click .

In the left menu, click ** Roles**.

On the right page, click the **System roles** tab.

Click the role name you want to configure to open the details page.

Click the **Basic** tab, and in the "Permission" section on the right side of the page, check or uncheck the corresponding permissions.

Click **Update**.
